Gwalior Childrens Hospital helps needy children Gwalior Childrens Hospital
Our hospital was just the start of a string of related activities

The Gwalior Childrens Hospital began as the dream of an Indian trained physician as he worked in the relatively first world surroundings provided by the U.K. health system.

After much effort, his dream became a reality in 1998.

Since that year, the organisation has grown to include specialist facilities, rural health education programmes, schools, orphanages and more.

HEALTH EDUCATION:  The Gwalior Health & Education Society has been set up to provide health and education services to children in schools, orphanages and rural areas. Together with the other trusts (Gwalior Childrens Hospital and Gwalior Hospital & Education Charitable Trust) the combined organisation provides health education and medical services throughout the Gwalior and Chambal regions.

OUTPATIENTS DEPARTMENT:  Specialist clinics were established as early as May 1998. Consultations are available to everyone without charge.

24hr AMBULANCE SERVICE:  The hospital provides emergency and ambulance service 24 hours day throughout the year.

ORPHANAGES:  Since 2001, we have been supporting the Mercy Home orphanage for children with profound learning disabilities. As well as health services, our support has included clothing, food, more carers and volunteers. A current proposal , which has already been accepted by local authorities, is that we should assume control of the Mercy Home. If accepted we plan to develop this into a key part of our orphanage programme with a training and rehabilitation centre for poor, disabled and destitute children. We also support Mother Teresas Home for sick children and Roshani, which provides care for spastic children, the Orphanage for Blind Girls, the Orphanage for Homeless Girls and an orphanage and school for deaf and dumb children. In addition, in a number of cases we are sponsoring all expenses for the children.

SCHOOLS:  In July 2001 we opened the Sunrise International School for special needs.

Together with the Adhar Public School, it caters for over 156 children. We also support Seva Bharatis school for poor tribal children at Kedarpur. In some cases, where our funds will allow, we are also supporting needy children for educational fees and living expenses. Government run facilities in the Gwalior and Chambal regions are either very limited or non-existent. The trusts receive no government assistance for these activities.
